Limiting upload speed only 16 November 2005, 10:51

Hello, currently I'm trying to limit my second computers upstream speed, while leaving the downstream untouched. Bandwidth Manager works, but when uploading at the maximum that I input, it slows the entire connection of the computer down drastically. Is there something I can do to fix this?

Yes, most probably this is because of a confirmation packets delay. Try setting (from main menu File - Settings - Advanced) a SoftPerfect Bandwidth Manager option called "Transmit short TCP ACK frames with no queue". When the option is set and you download a file confirmation packets from your PC to the server come without trapping into the upload limit.

This number does not apply to the TCP ACK option. You may only need to adjust the max. queue size if you have many bandwidth rules and the program takes too much memory (RAM).
