Email Alert Settings call for the email password to be entered. Is it then saved somewhere? If so, is this data then hackable, giving rise to the risk of malicious access to the email account by a hacker? Thanks.
It is the same risk as with entering a password into an e-mail client like Thunderbird. Theoretically it can be extracted from there, if someone has access to your files.
You can probably use your ISP's SMTP server if it doesn't require authentication when accessed from the ISP's network. It that case no password would be needed.
