Re: Network scan through VPN /22 subnet mask

13 days ago, by WindowsStar in Network Scanner Forum

I scan networks connected via VPN all the time and it works perfectly. I scan /24 /23 /22 and /20 no problem. Just enter the IP range and scan. -WS

Re: Scan devices without turning off Windows firewall

14 days ago, by WindowsStar in Network Scanner Forum

Turn on firewall and enable ping on all clients. Done and done! Here is how: Open Windows Firewall. Click Advanced Settings on the left. From the left pane of the resulting window, click Inbound Rules. In the right pane, find the rules titled File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv4-In). Right-click each rule and choose Enable Rule.

Did you ever finalize and release 7.1.6? I downloaded it as one of your preliminary builds and it works well but I notice that 7.1.5 is the version in the download section of the site. Note: it has the same error as reported above. I just click through it. Thanks -WS

Version 7.1.5 works perfectly. Note: I am using the portable version of both, licensed, 64 bit.

Re: Not accepting /32 address as a valid CIDR range

4 weeks ago, by WindowsStar in Network Scanner Forum

That is the button I am using that doesn't work because I have to toggle the checkbox for broadcast/network scanning you mentioned. That is why I suggested the new icon. Right now it is three or four mouse clicks to turn it off ... then three or four to turn it back on. The new icon would do all the mouse clicks for single IP? Just a thought nothing that has to be changed... and again you may ha

Re: Not accepting /32 address as a valid CIDR range

Yup, that works. Thanks for the link. Picture worth a thousand words. Got me thinking is there a more elegant way to handle this so someone doesn't' have to go back and forth checking the box? My thoughts are 162.213.122.82 /32 and a new ICON that indicates Single IP. But you may have a much better suggestion. Example: 162.213.122.82 /32 (Add Range) (CIDR) Blank (Assign Comment) (NEW

Delay when clicking the File menu item

4 weeks ago, by WindowsStar in Network Scanner Forum

Version v7.1.6 downloaded from this thread has a delay when clicking on FILE when the software is first launched. Re-clicking there is no delay. Then if I scan a range and wait until it finishes and then click on FILE there is a long delay before the menu appears. Thanks -WindowsStar

Not accepting /32 address as a valid CIDR range

I keep forgetting to let you know that NetScan will not let me enter 162.213.122.82 /32 as a valid search. I have to put 162.213.122.82 to 162.213.122.82 to scan a single IP. Thanks -WindowsStar

Re: How to find out iDRAC firmware version

Wasn't the item already setup under the Remote XML options for iLO and iDRAC. If memory serves me? EDIT: Opps I see XML now. Thought this was a pure HTML query.

Re: Unable to write netscan config file

4 months ago, by WindowsStar in Network Scanner Forum

This explains some of the issues we are having. Each tech uses a different /maxcols:X and we all share configuration files, especially if someone figures out a new way to scan for something. Is there a way to add the /maxcols:X to the config files and eliminate the need for the command line switch? Or code it for 100 and then use the command line switch if you need something beyond that? Thoughts

Re: Administrative shares and hidden shares

C$, D$, .... etc. and Admin$ and IPC$ are the admin shares, the others you displayed typically are not. The $ on the "other" shares just mean it is hidden (well mostly hidden). Print$ is the share for printer drivers and printer information and is available to everyone (e.g. not an Admin Share), the $ just means it is hidden. Hope that helps -WS

Thread scan stuck: diagnostics and solutions

10 months ago, by WindowsStar in Network Scanner Forum

Good Morning, Many times I scan a network and NetScan gets stuck with something like "Threads 62 Devices 62 /62" and never continues. I assume it is stuck trying to gather the information I have requested but cannot for some reason. I have let the software run all day and it will stay stuck. If I stop the scan and then force the Threads to end the software will stay stuck on 62 thre

@bizmarkie Sorry if it seemed like I was ganging up on you, that was not my intent. The intent was to help resolve the problem. I have been in the computer industry for more time than I care to admit and every time I had seen something like this in the past it was video card related or too high a percentage of CPU usage time. But as always Andrew knew something we didn't was able to track it to

Re: Slow column resizing

That looks like a slow video card to me. I have seen this with other software many times. Try updating the video driver to the latest version, sometimes that makes a difference. If not check to see if your machine itself has too much running at the same time. I know many applications put software in the system tray to launch faster or give you quick access to settings, but 90% of the time that is

Feature request: add script to Open Device menu

1 year ago, by WindowsStar in Network Scanner Forum

Good Morning, I would like to request a feature. Under Options | Remote Scripting .. or Remote PowerShell would you add a second check box. This second check box would add the script to "Open Device..." fly-out menu" like the Options | Program Options | Applications {tab} (Doesn't have to add it here, just making is an option on the "Open Device..." fly-out menu&qu

Re: "Could not register tab" error message

Yes, deleting the XML file does fix the issue, however I have an extremely complex XML file. Is there any way to have the software repair the XML file or update it without losing the settings?

"Could not register tab" error message

1 year ago, by WindowsStar in Network Scanner Forum

Today, we purchased a license for this software to use the v7 code. (I have supported this software for a very long time and now that we are using it at work all the time we need to pay for it) When we went from v6.2.1 to v7.0.5 using the same XML config file, we now get the "Could not register tab. Error 0." error pop-up message when starting the scan. Any ideas? As always, g

Re: Suggestion: Thread Time-Out Option

1 year ago, by WindowsStar in Network Scanner Forum

Thank you. I guess I misunderstood that was how that works and/or did not know the underlying operation. Somehow I was thinking this was how much time you wanted to wait to start the threads, thinking run-time meaning start, not how long. Now that you have pointed it out I get it "run time" how long. Looked at that so long ago, it stuck in my mind incorrectly. Thanks as always and glad
