Allowing TCP port 8701   04 January 2011, 13:12

Hello everyone... first of all happy new year...

Something confusing me with the PORT.. In the Online Manual

"If you are using Windows XP SP2 or above with the built-in firewall enabled, please set it up to allow the bandwidth manager connection (TCP port 8701)."

I'm on Windows XP SP3 could anyone teach me how to set it up to allow the bandwidth manager connection (TCP port 8701).?? step by step...

Thanks in advance...

PORT Issue   04 January 2011, 17:43

You do not need to open that port unless you need to have access to the GUI and settings, remotely.
Also if you need to open the port, first you need to find out if you're using a third party firewall or not, if yes, you need to follow the instruction on that.
for built-in windows xp firewall, follow this: https://www.windowsecurity.com/articles/Customizing-Windows-Firewall.html
Also, these things considered as basic stuff. if you are not familiar with those, maybe its just not the right time for you to try such an advanced program like SBM.
